Part Two: Technical Development

Having studied Part One of this book, you should be familiar with the various elements of motion in Yngwie’s picking style using terms grounded in science, as well as the musical terminology that will be used to describe the sounds used in the successive chapters. You should now be able to identify the different motion mechanics at play in Yngwie’s style and know the sounds and fingerings of the natural, harmonic and hybrid minor scales, the Phrygian dominant mode, and diminished 7th arpeggios.

Part Two puts the mechanical precepts into practice with a series of development drills. I have categorised them into four areas of focus for progressive mastery of the entire system.
